Hello from Gapps

A special thanks to APM Group who kindly hosted the last GAPPS Working Session 19 at High Wycombe, UK in May this year.

Our next working session is coming up in October 2010 and we'd love you to join us. Further details will be coming soon.

Working Session No 20

Date:                      October 2010

Location:                Australia

Getting involved in the GAPPS working session allows you to become a part of a unique and prestigious community in the Project Management arena. You will be working together with some of Project Management’s great minds including Professors of Project Management, Presidents and figure heads of leading project management associations, and other leading Project Management professionals from around the world. Your personal learning and development includes the option to work on the development of the latest GAPPS standards with professional standard writers, mapping of various standards to the GAPPS standards and various marketing strategies for the GAPPS.

For those unfamiliar with the process, the GAPPS Working Sessions are exactly that – participants work hard over three days to achieve the agreed outcomes of the Alliance.  The work of the GAPPS is done by volunteers, who are very busy people, so we have recognised that most of our achievements and progress will be made in these dedicated three day sessions.

GAPPS - Global Alliance for Project Performance Standards

The purpose of the GLOBAL ALLIANCE FOR PROJECT PERFORMANCE STANDARDS initiative is to develop agreed frameworks as a basis for review, development, and recognition of local standards that will facilitate mutual recognition and transferability of project management qualifications.

It is intended that the framework and associated standards be freely available for use by businesses, academic institutions, professional associations, and government standards and qualifications bodies globally.

As project management has become a more widely used management approach, both public and private sector entities have become interested in standards that describe levels of acceptable workplace performance. Many of these entities operate across national boundaries and are thus interested in standards and qualifications that are transferable. Governments, concerned with ensuring an internationally competitive workforce, and individuals, desiring greater mobility, are also interested in the mutual recognition and transferability of qualifications.
